First Carbon Credit Stop a SUCCESS!
Stuart Jolly
Here's an update for you on AFP's "Carbon Credit Tour" meeting on 14 Aug with Congressman Cole as our speaker. Bottom line up front: Congressman Cole was excellent and spot on!
Anyway, with Ada having a population of only 16,008, and we had...drum roll please.....120 attendees!  We were all amazed. We did our usual postcard invites, made bunches of calls, posted it in their paper, called the local TV & radio stations, called the local Chamber of Commerce, and went to a Chamber luncheon hours before our event and invited everyone there.  After all of that, I still didn't expect this crowd.  Besides, the storms yesterday were INSANE.  Cars actually stopped on I-40 because of the rain and lightning!  It was a crazy night.
My cap-n-trade briefing went well and then I turned it over to Rep Tom Cole who did a great job expanding on what I had just said.  He had some great insight into the issue which helped the folks there further understand what this issue was all about and how it would affect them.  Afterwards, Congressman Cole hung around and took more questions.  Thank you, Congressman for speaking at AFP's event.  We had a lot of fun.
All in all, an excellent (and late) night!
