TOPEKA – Monday, June 23 marks the third anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court decision in the case of Kelo v. New London. In 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that governments are allowed to seize private property and give it to another private party in the name of “greater public use” – or economic development.

WICHITA – The free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) will bring its nationwide hot air balloon tour to Wichita on May 1 for a news conference and citizen event. Even as gasoline prices reach an all-time high, the Hot Air Tour has the goal of educating citizens on the economic costs of climate change policies, including the huge energy tax hike hidden in global warming legislation being debated by lawmakers. The event is free and open to media and the public. Citizens planning to attend are encouraged to register online at www.CostofHotAir.com.
