October 20, 2008
“The outcome of this vote in Dickinson may very well determine the state legislature’s future efforts to help local governments out on the property tax issue,” said Gawrylow. “If the residents of Dickinson approve a plan that prevents their property taxes from being reduced at the local level, they will find a tough audience at the state legislature.”

Struggling National and Global Economy Reinforces Need for Increased Tax Competitiveness in North Dakota
October 7, 2008
“With many states struggling with the current economic situation, now is the perfect time to elevate our rankings nationally while other states are simply not in the position to do so,” said AFP-ND State Policy Director Dustin Gawrylow. “North Dakota must position itself as a place that entrepreneurs can come and create new businesses and not be hit by burdensome state income taxes that reduce the amount of reinvestment that can be made into their businesses.”

Anti-Taxpayer Group Sings Same Old Song
September 18, 2008
“This group is just singing the same old class warfare song that we hear from those in favor of perpetual tax revenue growth. They brazenly claim that letting people keep more of their own money is somehow a bad thing. In fact, just a quick check of their website shows that this liberal group has never met a tax hike it didn't love.”

Sponsoring Committee, AFP-ND Object to Secretary of State’s Alterations to Ballot Language
September 5, 2008
We believe the original ballot title as written by the Attorney General on July 17th, 2007 accurately portrays the intent of the sponsoring committee, the petition signers, and of the initiated measure itself. Voters should not be deterred from voting themselves a tax cut by confusing commentary added to the ballot language more than a year after the ballot language was previously approved.

Taxpayer Group Releases Analysis of Governor Hoeven’s Latest Tax Plan
September 2, 2008
“We welcome the Governor to the discussion on how to best reduce the tax burden on the people of North Dakota. However, Measure Two allows the voters the chance to decide whether they would like to roll the dice and hope the next legislature will do something to help ease their tax burden, or if they want guaranteed tax relief starting with their first paycheck next January. The 2007 legislature spent 78 days debating the property tax and came up with an income tax credit, all that did was shift the burden. Measure Two offers real permanent tax relief for every North Dakotan that collects a paycheck,” concluded Gawrylow.
